How pricing works in Mall Together

Every product in Mall Together has a wholesale cost and a recommended retail price, and you choose what to actually charge. Price at recommended and you always sell; go higher and margins climb — until customers stop buying. This page tracks what’s actually verified about that mechanic, and is explicit about what isn’t yet.

Early player consensus community-reported

Recommended prices already sit well above cost (Supermarket milk: recommended $4.25, described as “way above cost”), and early players report you can charge “even a little bit higher” than recommended and still sell fine — one demo reviewer called the profit “absolutely ridiculous”. Small markups like $3.35 → $3.50 sold without complaints.

The open question: the tolerance ceiling unconfirmed

How far above recommended customers keep buying is the number that matters, and nobody has pinned it down — the game is days old, there’s no datamine, and no Steam guide covers it. We are testing it the slow way: raising prices product by product until shelves stop clearing or the daily report complains, and logging where that happens.

For reference, Supermarket Together — the closest genre precedent — settled on reference price × 2 − $0.01 as its max-profit formula. Our calculator includes it as a preset, clearly labeled unconfirmed for Mall Together.
